SODIUM HYDROXIDE (NaOH) - Caustic Soda

Caustic soda, chemically known as sodium hydroxide (NaOH), is an extremely strong, corrosive alkali that is used in numerous industrial and household applications. It most often appears in the form of white flakes or granules, extremely soluble in water

USES:
- Cleaning agent: Due to its strong alkalinity, its main application is in the production of strong alkaline agents for cleaning and clogging drains and pipes, disinfection barriers on farms
- Industry: It is used as a source of sodium in chemical reactions, for pH regulation in wastewater treatment, in the production of biodiesel, paper, textiles, as well as for bleaching and dyeing materials.
- Soap production: Sodium hydroxide is a key component in the process saponification, i.e. production of solid soaps.

SAFETY MEASURES:
- Sodium hydroxide is extremely corrosive and requires careful handling. When working with it, it is necessary to implement personal protection measures to avoid injuries:
- Always wear appropriate protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses and clothing that covers the skin.
- Use it in well-ventilated areas.
- When dissolving in water, always add soda to water, not the other way around, because the reaction releases a significant amount of heat (exothermic reaction).
- Keep the product out of the reach of children and in a safe place.
